I seldom played outside because I don't have brother or sister.
My parents didn't let me stop watching TV.
My family enjoyed watching TV shows togher.
However if I have a child, I don't want my child to watch TV all the time.
I want him/her to play outside or read books instead.

So your parents didn't try to stop you from watching TV all day? Do you remember how many hourse on average you watched TV a day?
Or do you remember what shows you enjoyed watching?
When I was little, I usually watch "Sazae-san" and "Sekai Meisaku Gekijo" with my family from 7:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays.
Now I watch Dae Jang Geum 대장금 every Friday.
